- Claude sucks at answering and debugging server-related questions. ChatGPT does it better.
- ChatGPT does a very decent job in providing concise yet detailed instructions. Claude does one or the other. I couldn’t find a midpoint. (If anyone has any advice, please let me know.)
- Claude does a better job (at least for my projects and personal queries) in analysis and providing a keen understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of my current work.
- Grammarly AI mode sucks
- In generating images, Gemini and ChatGPT have their own niche. I have to test which one provides a better solution, for example, an infographic, every time.
- I personally prefer Gemini for research (ex. List up literature about XYZ during 2015-2026); ChatGPT for personal queries (ex. How do I organize my annotations?); Claude for coding and data analysis

Journey to my Ph.D. program
I’m an international Ph.A. student here. One in a Ph.D. program will enter as a Ph.A. student, then evolve to a Ph.D. student following these evolutionary steps (just like Pokémon):
- Ph.A.: during your coursework stage
- Ph.B.: around the time when you finish your coursework
- Ph.C.: doctoral candidate stage (probably year 3-4)
- Ph.D. : After a successful dissertation defense, you’ve finally become a Ph.D.
I hope to capture my progress at least once monthly on things like: progress on my projects, comps (I know it’s a bit early to start on it), dissertation ideas, personal reflections, etc.
Let the journey begin 🙂
